Jewelry Repair Services

Quality jewelry repair, such as what you will find with Porter’s Jewelry, will show no signs of the repair. The piece should have the same appearance, luster, and color throughout. Additionally, with all of our jewelry repair services, you can ensure:

  • All stones are secure and tight

  • No visible seams

  • No tool marks or hammering visible

While we provide a wide range of jewelry repair services, some of the most common include ring resizing, chain repair, and prong repair.

Ring Resizing

Whether your ring fits too tight or too loose, at Porter’s Jewelry, we are here to help. Here are a few of the techniques we use when resizing your rings:

Cutting and Soldering

One of the most common ring resizing methods is cutting and soldering. During this process, a small cut is made at the center of the shank bottom (unless inscription or other marks won’t allow). Here metal will either be added or removed from the ring to resize it appropriately. In a quality cutting and soldering job, no seams will be visible upon completion.

Spring Inserts

Our jewelers can place spring inserts inside the shank to adjust your ring size. This method allows for changes of up to two full ring sizes.

Sizing Beads

For more minor sizing discrepancies, such as a half size or less, sizing beads can be placed inside the bottom of the shank.
